Nokia 6300 Vs Nokia 6301 – Any Difference at All?

Author: Caroline Telford

If there is one mobile phone manufacturer which releases new models one after another, it is none other than Nokia. Unlike Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Samsung and other popular mobile phone manufacturers, Nokia releases models quicker than the average consumer can actually keep up with.

This is probably due to the fact that they are the world's largest mobile phone manufacturer. But how does this affect the average consumer? What if the mobile phone that you purchased now becomes available with a newer, better version after a month or so?

Basically, it is a matter of what is important to you as a mobile phone user. If you want to have the latest that a mobile phone manufacturer has to offer - then you can grab the latest models that they release in the market. Or, if you are more patient, you can wait until a newer, better model comes along.

Nokia 6300 versus Nokia 6301
The Nokia 6300 and the Nokia 6301 is one classic example. At first glance, these two phones could have been different colors of the same model. The appearance of the Nokia 6300 and Nokia 6301 are almost the same.

However, the difference between the two lies in the intricacies of the features.

Here is a comprehensive look into the varying features of the Nokia 6300 and Nokia 6301 mobile phones.

1. Standby Time

With the Nokia 6301, the standby time is 310 hours. With the Nokia 6300, there are 348 hours of standby time.

2. Internal Memory

The Nokia 6301 has a 30 MB internal memory, while the Nokia 6300 only has 10 MB of internal memory or less.

3. Connectivity

When you purchase the Nokia 6301, you will have the Wi-Fi and UMA connectivity feature. This is not present at all with the Nokia 6300 model.

4. Dimensions

The Nokia 6300 has slightly smaller dimensions that the Nokia 6301 - making it a little on the lighter side.

The Features which the Nokia 6301 and the Nokia 6300 Have in Common

If there are differences, here are the features which are common to both Nokia mobile phone models:

- 240x320 pixel, 16M color display

- 3.5 hours of talk time

- 2-Megapixel camera

- USB and Bluetooth connectivity

- FM radio

Also, when it comes to the design, both phones are of the candy bar type. The material is made of stainless steel frame - and the units are really easy to handle.

The downside to the features of both the Nokia 6301 and the Nokia 6300 s that there is no auto-focus or flash included in the camera. Also, there is no 3G connectivity feature.

If you are looking for a unique feature in the design, there is a blue light on either side of the Nokia 6300 phone which glows when you have unread text messages. This is one 'cute' feature that users would most likely have fun with.

Now that you know about the main differences between the Nokia 6301 and the Nokia 6300, which phone would you most likely buy? If you are looking for more standby time and more internal memory capability, then the Nokia 6301is definitely the better choice.

iPhone speed from Rogers is one of the fastest

While 3G iPhone users from United States have been complaining about the speed, the Canadians are so delighted and satisfied with the service that they get from Rogers. According to the report from the website of Wired Magazine, Rogers currently holds the record of the second fastest network speed around the globe.

iphone_3g

Wired.com recently had a poll where over 2,600 users of the second-generation iPhone responded. In the poll, they found out that the customers of Fido as well as Rogers from Canada had a download speed of 1,330 kilobits per second on their iPhone. And that’s just the average download speed! The said speed is just a few numbers behind from the speed experienced by the subscribers of T-Mobile. European countries such as Netherlands and Germany have an average download speed of 1,883 kilobits.

The customers of Rogers and Fido reported that they have been experiencing faster speeds compared to what the US customers are getting. On AT&T’s network, the average speed is only 990 kilobits. But US subscribers must not feel to frustrated. There is a slower speed than what AT&T is giving. Virgin and Optus networks from Australia have the worst speeds, giving only 360 kilobits to its subscribers.iPhone speed from Rogers is one of the fastest!

3G iPhone

3g iphone

One very obvious thing missing from last year's Apple iPhone was 3G support. If you wanted high-speed internet access when you weren't near a WiFi hotspot, then you needed to rely on a GPRS or EDGE connection. Very often subscribers were stuck with dial-up modem speeds on a device that really needed a much faster internet connection.

Apple's excuse for the lack of 3G was that it drained the battery too quickly, but in reality the problem was more likely to be that the iPhone was designed for the US AT&T/Cingular network where 3G availability was not great, and not for Europe where 3G coverage is very much better.

Several rumours and reports indicate that Apple may well be about to rectify the lack of 3G in the iPhone with a new model. A recent report in the UK's Times newspaper indicates that the 3G iPhone will be due for a launch in June, and carriers who hold existing iPhone stock are slashing prices in order to move inventory. And by all indications, major European carriers are sitting on top of hundreds of thousands of iPhones which are likely to become obsolete pretty quickly.

Not only do carriers have to worry about unsold stock, but there's also the problem of how to deal with upgrades. Many iPhone customers will want to upgrade their handsets while still within their contracts.. contracts which tent to be quite long for the iPhone. Customers will not want to wait until their contract expires to get an upgrade.

Although a replacement for the iPhone is inevitable, there is very little information on what the "iPhone II" will look like. Some analysts have said that it will be radically different, but it must surely be a touchscreen device that retains the excellent iPhone interface that it already has. As the saying goes, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and in this case we suspect that the iPhone II will build on all the strengths of the original model while addressing some of the many weaknesses.
